Bacteria in Water is Killed by Chlorine, But is Chlorine Dangerous?

 

Some types are harmless, so in not all cases will it cause you to be sick. Your immune system is able to fight some of it off, making you immune to the bacteria in your own water.

Guests on the other hand may get sick because they have not build up immunity to the bacteria water. This may cause them to get diarrhea or other gastrointestinal disorders.

Bacteria water is the cause of cholera and typhoid. Since bacteria in water can be a serious health threat, we want to destroy it, so it can’t harm us. Most water companies use chlorine to kill it, because chlorine is relatively inexpensive.

There are other ways, such as using ultraviolet light, adding iodine or boiling water for at least one minute. These are not used at most water plants because of cost, time or labor intensive.

Since chlorine is the most used way to purify bacteria water, you would think that would solve all problems. But it hasn’t.
